BIOGRAPHY

Igor Drljaca (Writer/Director)

Born in 1983 in the Eastern European city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor moved to Canada in 1993 after war broke out in 1992. His family settled in Toronto, where he undertook his first filmmaking endeavors.
He completed his Bachelor’s at York University’s Film and Video Program in 2007, and is currently completing his Master’s in Film Production at York.
Igor has worked on numerous projects in different capacities, and has directed a number of shorts. Most recently, in 2008 he directed a short drama titled “Mobile Dreams,” which screened in Montreal, Santiago Chile, and Leeds (UK) late last year. Igor’s most recent short film, “Woman in Purple,” produced as part of the Sarajevo City of Film Project, premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival this summer. A second short film, "On a Lonely Drive,"which he also completed in 2009, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

He has also begun work on his thesis project, a feature film dealing with issues of identity and memory. Much of his work deals with memory, immigration, acceptance, and socio-political climates.
